Please Pray
Here at the Rev. D. L. McQuinn Foundation Inc, we have held a special place in our hearts for Compassionate Services. We were there when the organization began and over the years have contributed to many projects helping the persecuted church and those in desperate need due to natural disasters.
Pray for Ukraine
We received a report from our leader in Ukraine. He and his family are in a small village outside of Kiev. Currently, they are safe and in close contact with our churches and pastors. Cities throughout the county are under attack, including Odessa, where there is a naval base and an Apostolic church. Some of our people in nearby countries have been put on alert. Let’s join in focused prayer for these specific needs:
- Peace and safety for the Ukrainians
- A rapid end to the aggression
- The Ukrainian President and other leaders
- The neighboring nations and their leaders
- The people of these countries to realize their hope and future is in the Lord
Compassion Sunday
The annual Compassion Sunday offering is this Sunday, February 27. The focus this year is to help the persecuted church throughout the world. We can make a difference as we help the hurting and share the gospel globally.
Sincerely in Christ,
David K. Bernard

Meet Harry Scism
At fifteen years of age I was taken to India, the son of a missionary. There I was surrounded by poverty, suffering, lack of adequate education, shortage of water, famine, desperate need for medical help, and the list goes on and on. Often I was asked by Indian contacts what our mission was doing to help the poor, suffering, uneducated and needy population. These questions bothered me. I saw what many of my missionary friends with other missions were doing to help the suffering, In fact, the lives of both my father and mother were saved by missionary doctors in mission hospitals. As a missionary endeavor we did the best we could with very limited resources, but something very important was missing.
Later in my missionary life when trying to obtain visas for missionaries in different countries I was often asked by government officials what that applicant would do to benefit their country in a practical way. They wanted specifics.
One day a senior member of our Foreign Missions Board came to me with his finger on a scripture in the Bible that reads like this: “Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.” Prov.21:13. It soon became clear that our Foreign Missions Board felt it was time for us to move into an additional dimension of ministry to the world. This was just the beginning of something wonderful and powerful that would reach around the world.

The historical activity of our documentary was drawn from a variety of sources, chiefly from the:
- minutes of the Foreign Missions Division (now called Global Missions) of the United Pentecostal Church International,
- minutes of Compassion Services International (CSi),
- Mercy Medical Network Ministry,
- reports from the field by the various onsite teams,
- communications such as e-mails, correspondence, and documented personal notes of those involved in the administration of the ministry,
- the Pentecostal Herald, the official publication of the United Pentecostal Church International,
- The Global Witness, later called World Harvest Today, then the Onsite, official publications of the Foreign Missions Division,
- Indiana Bible College’s IBC Perspectives
This documentary was created to demonstrate the sincere expression of appreciation of a suffering world that CSi has ministered to as an important First Responder. This publication will also provide enlightenment for the continuity of this outstanding humanitarian arm, operating first under the canopy of the United Pentecostal Church International, then later given birth in 2008 as an independent corporate entity as a 501(c)(3).
The editors take pleasure in expressing their gratitude to all who have so generously aided in the preparation of this work.
